In the Kumano Peninsula, intensive forestry has triggered deadly processes across the territory, which have generated both a technological race to the top, local responses and an ecological awareness.
Located south of Kyoto, the Kumano Peninsula was long relegated to the periphery of the country. The folklore and history of Kumano still bear traces of this ancient subordination. For writer Kenji Nakagami, who was born on the peninsula and belongs to the discriminated social group known as the Burakumin, the region has always been a place of marginalization and resistance to central authority, a place of exile for “losers” of all kinds: fallen nobles, rebellious farmers, anarchists, rebel groups, and so on. In many ways, it remains, in the Japanese imagination, a region of otherness and shadow. There also seems to be an agrarian anarchism similar to what Sanshirō Ishikawa (1876-1956) called “the thinking of the people of the earth” (土民思想, domin shiso). In the Kojiki (“Chronicle of Ancient Matters”), a collection from 712 that recounts the mythical origins of the Japanese archipelago and the imperial lineage, the inhabitants of Kumano are described as animal-men with tails, and the Kumano region (熊野: “the territory of the bear”) is represented by a deity that appeared in the form of a bear.

Sortie après sortie, le label Tripalium est définitivement en train de s’imposer comme une des plaques tournantes de la nouvelle scène électronique, sous ses multiples facettes.
Avec cette nouvelle compilation, intitulée Some Like It Rough, Tripalium continue son oeuvre de mise en lumière d’artistes aux influences diverses et variées, ayant comme point en commun, une vision singulière de comment doit résonner la culture underground aujourd’hui : sombre, expérimentale, agrémentée de sonorités indus et de pointes acid, de soubresauts hardcore et de déviances auditives, voir d’ambient aérien et rampant.
Avec cette compilation, les ambiances exaltantes et exaltées, se succèdent, entrainant l’auditeur dans un voyage sensoriel aux allures de futur post-apocalyptique, hanté par des hordes sauvages, armées d’armes noise et de saturo-lasers vrombissants, de tractopelles rythmiques perforateurs aux cadences mouvantes et inquiétantes, guidées par des chefs de bande aux noms barbares : K21, Jaquarius, Verset Zero, Somaticae (repéré sur In Paradisum), Yan Kaylen, Fulgent, Coldgeist….
Some Like It Rough résonne comme une parfaite introduction aux musiques de demain. Très fortement recommandé.
Après Some Like It Raw l'an dernier, cette nouvelle compilation fait une nouvelle fois la part belle aux sonorités assourdissantes et dissonantes de la modernité.
Entre abysses sans fond, drones obscurs et chevauchées martiales, les quatorzes titres de Some Like It Rough définissent les contours d'un dancefloor sombre et détraqué, qui mêle techno, noise et ambient, création et destruction, dans un même mouvement. Quatorze titres à la rugosité exquise, quatorze façons d'envisager la techno aujourd'hui, quatorze producteurs de France et de Navarre réunis par l'amour de l'exploration sonore.
